More about Our Ministries

I must work the works of Him that sent me while it is day; the night cometh, when no man can work. (John 9:4)

Say not ye, there are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you, lift up your eyes, and look in the fields; for they are white already to harvest. (John 4:35)

Verah Orhobor Ministries is a crystallization of all that God has spoken over the years. I see a vision of multitudes being trained and galvanized for this end time harvest. This is in response to the cry in God’s heart for a generation to arise, get enlisted and trained. I see a city of refuge where men and women will be discipled and raised as active labourers in God’s endtime harvest.

Our ministries include the following:

Women Empowerment

The women empowerment started as a result of a direct instruction to “go labour among the women folk”. A part of this is the Dynamic Ladies Community. DLC aims to empower women for spiritual leadership, societal relevance and generational impact. It is a community of single and married women committed to spiritual growth under the discipleship of Pastor Verah Orhobor. We are committed to personal spiritual growth, followership, partnership, and obedience to personal instructions. The Community is one that gives opportunities to women to grow, and be a blessing to the lives of the people around them. Women, both young and elderly, from different denominations come in every month and are immensely blessed and empowered to tackle the many responsibilities and challenges women face, and they come back with great testimonies.

The DLC has impacted the lives of hundreds of women within and outside Nigeria. The impact cuts across families, careers, businesses and most especially the spiritual lives of women.

The Community has helped many women discover, develop and deploy their God given talents through deliberate teaching and learning. Ladies have been trained to become knowledgeable in the Word of God and in prayer. Women are trained into leaders, into great supporters at homes to their husbands, as the Community has created platforms of growth which cover spiritual growth, personal development, career development, being an effective wife and mother, home and family care, hygiene, business growth and development, how to relate effectively with people, relevant skills development, and much more.

The DLC Breakfast Meeting holds every second Saturday of every month by 8am here in Church, after which every woman is served free breakfast. Pastor Verah meets with the women on Mixlr every week.

Once every 2 years, we have the International Ladies Conference (ILC), where we have had great women of God come teach the Word of God powerfully and impart us greatly. The ILC is a conference for Christian women all around the world. It is a meeting targeted at encountering revival and building a dynamic woman.

Our goal is actually to build a community where ladies – irrespective of their age, marital status, past, or race – can find spiritual strength, inspiration, skills, knowledge, opportunities, connections, and more; to be victorious in life and in the kingdom of our God. We desire to raise an army of highly spiritual women who are relevant in the society, and at the same time excellent wives and mothers.

Street Outreaches

We go from street to street sharing the love of God directly with people. This is the heartbeat of the Master! And He shows us a massive harvest of souls as we go forth in this new chapter to make the Master known, not just in our region but throughout all the earth. And then Romans 10:18 – Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the earth.

Secondary Schools Outreaches

Teenagers are known for their curiosity and inquisitiveness. This drives them to unfathomable and unimaginable lengths, leading to all kinds of lifestyles; addiction to drugs, porn, all kinds of sexual immorality, cultism, etc. Numerous young people are now engulfed in their own distractions, ensnared in depression and have become aimless. You would find them uninterested in God, purpose or their future and it shows in their lack of commitment to duty, and indifference to values.

Many times, no one wants to reach them because of the assumption that they are either children or they're set on their ways. But we know better and understand that if superior knowledge is communicated to their hearts through the help of the Holy Spirit, they will do better and go on to live the kind of life that God has called them to live. This is how the secondary schools outreach team was born.

Today, they ask questions. Tomorrow, they will provide answers. Today, they live in a world we have created for them. Tomorrow, we will live in a world that they create for us. These were the words that came to Pastor Verah that pushed us more and more into the schools.

Verah Orhobor Ministries has massively been on the forefront of reaching out to secondary school students for almost two decades. Our passion has been to challenge young people to live beyond the limitations of their environment, discover and fulfil purpose and become all they were born to be. Through the weekly outreaches of the team, nearly every secondary school across Warri, Effurun, Udu and beyond has been reached at one time or the other.

Over the years, the results have been tremendous as we have seen multitudes come to the saving knowledge of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, walking in His ways and leading so many others into the same experience through their lives. Through these outreaches, student missionaries and fellowship leaders within and outside the secondary schools have been raised and inspired to produce results and influence their peers for Christ. The impact of the gospel across the schools have been strong and some School owners and principals have been appreciative of our efforts, testifying to the results. So much has been put in to make this possible and we're grateful to the Lord for supplying us His wisdom as well as the manpower and resources for the actualization of this mandate.

Although the journey has been richly rewarding on earth, we look forward to greater rewards and testimonials to the impact of these outreaches on the other side of eternity. All praise, thanks and honour to the One who sent us, our Lord and King - Jesus Christ.

Campus Outreaches

Governments all around the world are grappling with the issues of youth and how to get them focused and properly directed, with little or no result. We believe young people are a great asset to any nation and if given the necessary support and inspiration, can become positive change agents. Today, they live in a world we have created for them; tomorrow, we will live in a world they will create for us.

The most challenging time of human life is not infancy, mature adulthood or old age, it is adolescence and young adulthood. This is a time of making destiny-enhancing or destiny-destroying decisions. Young people always feel a sense of independence and are ever attempting to find some sense of identity. In response to an increasingly complex society and a rapidly changing environment, many of these young people quickly succumb to peer pressure, embracing drugs, cultism, cybercrime, immorality, and even end up committing suicide. Others constantly contend with low self-worth, lack of purpose and conviction.

Verah Orhobor Ministries has been on the forefront of re-directing our youths towards meaningful and purposeful living. We have been committed through the years to youth development, empowerment and societal transformation. This is what gave birth to our regular campus seminars/outreaches.

We believe it's time to take responsibility for the rescue of this generation by empowering and equipping them with the tools needed to stand out and partner with us in driving societal change and creating a great future. This is where we have come in once and again, resolved that a generation will not be wasted, regardless of present-day challenges.

Year after year, from campus to campus, we have interacted with young people challenging them to excel in their academics and fulfil their God-given destiny. We have taught them to guard against the distractions of the youth and focus on what really matters. As a result, we have seen the Word of God increase and the number of disciples multiplied greatly. Many young people have been truly directed towards meaningful and purposeful living and for this we are grateful.

City-wide Crusades

The Lord shows us a massive harvest of souls as we go forth in this new chapter to make the Master known, not just in our region but throughout all the earth. And then Romans 10:18 – Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the earth. So, we move as the Spirit leads us to take cities for the Lord!

The Boy-child Initiative

And I searched for a man among them… (Ezekiel 22:30)

Elijah was a man… (James 5:17)

In recent years, there has been a well-deserved push for the well-being of the girl-child. As good as this is, it has somewhat eclipsed the need to look out for the boy-child. The point has been that mostly girls are trained to be wives and mothers and fruitful contributors in society, but the boy-child is often neglected. In an increasingly depraved world, the boy-child often struggles with self-esteem issues and issues of molestation and abuse. Unfortunately, some boy advocacy organizations were set up only to further exploit the boys and make them victims of depraved adult men. The boy-child initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the home and the school to help boys arrive at manhood being able to express their full potential and become responsible members of society. Our focus is boys at the secondary school level.

We trust God to do this through: Discipleship/mentorship – helping to guide them through a one-on-one discipleship/mentoring programme. Raising Awareness – Bringing the issue of male child-abuse to the open and encouraging parents, teachers, pastors and the community to actively do something about it. Spiritual Support – Striving to ensure that these boys are saved and helped to be able to resist any form of abuse as they follow Christ. Financial and Educational Assistance – Working to assist brilliant boys from economically deprived backgrounds to be able to go through school and get an education. We trust God to be able to also address issues of cultism, drug abuse, and sexual promiscuity.

Conferences and Seminars

Unconventional conferences and events like the Christian Teachers Summit, which has exposed thousands of Christian teachers to God’s expectations for the teacher; The Forum, which has been a fountain of Truth on the issues of marriage and relationships for over 2 decades; Youth Congress, a place for youths to get inspired to follow God and to take life seriously; Urhobo Youth Summit, a clarion call to young people of our land to rise beyond the limitations of culture and mediocrity; Global Marriage Summit, a week-long practical deep dive into the issues of marriage; Secondary Schools Congress, a gathering of high school students to lead them to Christ and challenge them to win; DLC Breakfast Meeting, a place where women learn how to live a balanced life; Singles Nite Out, a valentine special event that addresses issues of love and sex; Marriage Intelligence Mentoring Course, a specialized training on critical areas of marriage, etc.

Radio and TV Ministry

The radio ministry started over twenty years ago, when the church was at Enerhen Junction. God brought the vision that the word needed to go on radio. At that time, we had no resources at all but I took the step of faith and went to Jeremi FM, that's JFM. I met the owner of the station and shared my vision with him and that I wanted to preach on his station. He gave me the bill, it was not anything we could afford, so I told him we couldn’t afford it. He apologized saying, that's how much they were going to charge. I thanked him and expressed my desire to actually be on his station. As I got up to leave, he called me back and asked me how much I could afford. He said he liked me, a young beautiful woman like me who wanted to preach the Word of God. He said he would like to give whatever support he could give. To be honest, we could afford nothing, but in faith I just told him we could afford N15,000 a quarter. A quarter is three months. He laughed and said if that's what we could afford, we could start. It was like a dream, is this even possible? That's how we started 'Today's Challenge' on JFM. It was a fifteen minutes program that was airing every Wednesday morning.

After about a year of that program, I had a vision of having a daily broadcast that will be just for five minutes. I went back to him. Meanwhile, we were still not able to meet up with the payments for the first programme. As I went back to him that I wanted another daily program, he looked at me and said "Madam, you have not been able to pay the once-a-week program, you want to do daily program?" I said yes. So, he gave me the bill which was over two hundred thousand naira in a quarter. I said "Sir, this time it will be free, I don't have money to pay." He said "Pastor Verah please, this is not a charity organization." So, I left. A year later, I saw him in front of a bank. He exclaimed "Madam I didn't see you again! That thing you talked about…" I replied "no money yet." He asked if I was serious about it, I answered yes; he said I should come over and start the program. That was how we started 'The World of Today's Challenge' without paying a dime. We were on it for many years till Crown FM started. At the time Crown FM started, our resources were at a better place a bit and we started Crown FM. This time we started both daily broadcast and once a week fifteen minutes broadcast. We are still on Crown 89.9 FM Warri, 5pm daily, and 7am on Wednesdays.

We then started The Voice; which is also on Crown FM Warri. It is live by 4pm every Saturday. We expanded the radio ministry to Quest FM which is at Ughelli. I am on Quest 93.1 FM every Thursday by 6:30am. When Crown FM started in Onitsha, we started and currently have a daily broadcast with Crown 94.7 FM Onitsha, at 5pm daily, and 7am every Tuesday and Thursday. We are looking for ways to expand the radio broadcast, even to Port Harcourt and other places. Right now, we are trusting God to be able to cover the Southern region first of all and by God's grace move further.

But the bigger picture is to actually have our own radio station, which we are trusting God for resources to establish that level of ministry, so as to send out the gospel because God told us that from here, He will sound forth His word to other regions. As God supplies the resources, we will get this done.

Ministering in Churches

We receive hundreds of invitations every year to take the Word that God has given us out for other members of the Body of Christ to benefit from God's grace on my life. The Lord speaks of a global ministry that would impact millions. He spoke out of 1 Thessalonians 1:8 – “For from you sounded forth the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to Godward is spread abroad.” Our core graced areas are Marriage and Relationships, Purpose discovery and fulfillment, Outreach and Soulwinning, etc.
